Humble Folks

This is what I've spent the past two weeks working on. For a while now I've had ideas floating around in my head about doing artwork depicting behind-the-scenes of South Park, and this is what I came up with. The theme is the four original main voices--left to right/clockwise here are Isaac Hayes, Trey Parker, Mary Kay Bergman (sometimes credited as "Shannon Cassedy"), and Matt Stone. [if you can't tell, all she's doing is playing with his hair--who wouldn't want to? ]

As you may or may not already know, Mary tragically took her own life in late 1999, and Isaac died of stroke/heart failure about a year ago.

I have trouble photographing my artwork. It usually has a glossy finish, so I wind with either a too-blurry photo or one that reflects the light. The photo I chose to upload to DA is one showing off the light, but in less conspicuous places. I tweaked the contrast just a tad, too.

I had difficulties with the artwork itself, too. Originally, I wanted Mary to be sitting on the edge of the table, but that was too hard to draw and wasn't making sense with the rest of the drawing, so I just had her stand instead. However, her body appears to be at an odd angle. The other issue deals with the same drawing...Matt is too small compared to the other men; he should be about the same size as them. I've got him scrunched up there, but still.

After putting the two separate drawings on one paper (which is the biggest size I have!), it took me a few days to think of what to put in the remaining space.

Whew, that was quite an essay for one picture.
