Photo doesn't do the painting much justice. EDIT: Blurry photo. I may try and take a better one. EDIT 2: This is a slightly better photo...cropped at a free online image editor. Let's hope this works. I'm surprised this took only 2 afternoons to complete. I'm also very proud I was able to get the lighting effect right. After all the painting I did, I was afraid I'd ruin it with a wet brush technique. Also, one of the purposes of this painting was to practice that lighting effect for another painting I've been prepping for. So...yeah. Well, this is my favorite part in the SP movie, where Kenny floats up to Heaven and then gets rejected. I chose not to include the topless women.  (quinky-dink: The film came out in theatres 10 years ago today!) The way I painted the space background is inspired by the delicious space scenes in Gurran Laggan.  If you haven't seen that series, you must.It wasn't until I was close to finishing that I thought the clouds looked too big (as in, it'd look better if there was a more vast expanse of space showing). |
